Evidence-Based Treatment Approaches

  • Family Based Treatment (FBT) for Adolescents

We prioritize evidence-based treatment approaches for adolescents dealing with eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorders (OSFED). Our program is designed to empower parents and caregivers with the tools necessary to support their children through the healing process.

The treatment unfolds in two main phases. The first phase focuses on refeeding and symptom interruption, aiming to restore nutritional balance and address harmful behaviors surrounding food. During this stage, caregivers play a critical role in providing meal support and intervening in unhealthy eating patterns.

In the second phase, we emphasize the gradual return of independence concerning food choices and exercise. This transition is essential for fostering a healthy relationship with food and promoting autonomy while ensuring ongoing support from caregivers.

Our framework is deeply rooted in the Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating principles, alongside anti-diet philosophies. We believe that with the right support and guidance, both teens and their families can navigate the challenges of eating disorders and work toward lasting recovery.

  • Adult Treatment Approach

Our top priority is exploring and improving your relationship with food, exercise, and your body. Clients are supported to address body image concerns and cultivate a greater sense of body acceptance. Food freedom through intuitive eating promotes an open-minded, mindful, and compassionate approach to food.

Utilizing evidence-based treatment modalities, clients can work towards healing from various eating disorders and disordered eating patterns prevalent in adults, such as Binge Eating Disorder, ARFID, OSFED, Bulimia, and Anorexia Nervosa. My approach is deeply rooted in the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES), Intuitive Eating, and anti-diet philosophies, emphasizing dignity and respect for all body types.

Clients are equipped with tools and strategies to foster a positive relationship with food and their bodies, helping them to break free from harmful cycles and develop sustainable habits that enhance their quality of life.

Healing is viewed holistically and clients are encouraged to take healing at their own pace. Clients feel supported every step of the way.

I am also experienced in advocacy and can help you navigate complex systems including referrals to the regional eating disorders program and tertiary eating disorder programs across BC.
